Hello, I’m Lesa
I am here for the view, certainly. But I am usually more interested in the detail just off to one side.
A worn step. An old street name. A harbour crossing that looks ordinary until you ask what used to be there. Sydney has a habit of leaving clues. The trick is to stop long enough to notice them.
Good stories, with the homework done
This is a place for people who enjoy a good yarn and like a little evidence with it. We follow the records, ask awkward questions and resist the temptation to make every loose end behave.
If something is a local tradition rather than an established fact, we will say so. If the evidence runs out, we will leave the question open. A tidy ending is lovely. An honest one is better.
Come for a wander
You will find stories hidden behind familiar landmarks, glimpses of Sydney then and now, and reasons to take the slower route on foot or by ferry.
You need not know the city well. You need not be visiting it for the first time. Just bring a little curiosity. I will bring the notebook.
